Ayurveda is believed the oldest recorded natural and preventative health care systems of the world. It is most commonly used and preferred in many Asian countries like India and Sri Lanka. This profound science is gaining momentum and popularity rapidly in the west, especially in Australia due to its effective, non-invasive, natural and holistic approach to restoring balance within the mind, body and spirit. .

AYUR pronounce “are you” is a Sanskrit word that derives from the root “ayur”, which means life and VEDA is a Sanskrit word that derives from the root “vid”, which means to know or to understand. Ayurveda states that by understanding the nature of the mind, the body the soul and the nature of the universe, wisdom arises and is therefore known as Ayurveda.

Ayurveda takes into account a person’s physical, mental and spiritual well-being before advising any treatments or therapies. By understanding the proportion of elemental manifestations or forces that govern all physical and mental functions we then can understand the importance of living in harmony with the rhythms of nature by structuring and implementing guided diet and lifestyle habits that are most suitable and beneficial to your unique body type.

Daily routines, seasonal variations and precautions, the use of kitchen herbs and spices, herbal formulas, therapeutic treatments, yoga, breathing exercise, rest and relaxation techniques, meditation and home remedies are offered as knowledge and resources to empower individuals to take back control of their health.

Ayurveda aims to maintain the health of a healthy person and to treat, manage and cure specific diseases of an unhealthy person. Ayurveda is a preventative, cost effective health care system that aims to treat the individual as a unique phenomenon by offering safe, natural, and effective therapies. By knowing your unique constitution (prakriti) and current physiological imbalances (vrikriti), mental state (manas prakriti), digestive capacity (agni), the state of the tissues (dhatus), and channels (srotas) we are much more armed with proper knowledge to build a customised, structured program that will be provided to help you become your very own doctor, and let’s face it, who knows you better that yourself.

Ayurveda considers that the benefits of Abhyanga are similar to those of feeling supported and loved. The warmth, smoothness and weight of the oil gives a feeling of stability and calm, passing through the channels of the body to penetrate into the tissue layers. Each deeper level is said to be more essential for life.

This rejuvenating and detoxifying massage uses medicated oils specific to your constitution that are gently warmed and massaged into the body. The herbal oil penetrates deeply through the skin nourishing the body tissues and muscles while toxins and impurities are directed back to the digestive tract where they can be eliminated more easily.
